local artists working in diverse media

The Santa Barbara Art Association is a nonprofit community of local artists working in diverse media. It began on February 14, 1952, when Douglass Parshall welcomed about fifty artists to his home in Montecito. The first officers were Parshall as president, Joseph Knowles as vice president, Francois Martin as secretary, and Standish Backus as treasurer.

Artist membership is decided at an in-person jury twice a year. Patron membership is a donation and does not include member-only shows. The roll, the board, and the show list are on this site.
